On December 26, 2020, we celebrated the end of the year with "KEMO CLUB Vol.7."
The highlight of this event was a collaboration with "Kemono Bar," a real-world bar for furry fans, run by Taketou Kitsune. We connected the physical bar and the VRChat dance floor via live video, blending the virtual and physical worlds in real time. Imagine looking past the bar counter and seeing a virtual dance floor on the other side. That was the magic of this night. Taketou Kitsune also designed our official event flyer.
The lineup featured DJs SORAMI, Kagetora., M4Tyyyyy, and F Rabbeat, backed by VJ Tuna's visuals, wrapping up the year in style.
We also implemented several improvements to our VRChat world based on attendee feedback:
- Optimized Screen Height: Lowered the main video screen to reduce neck strain for VR headset users during long sets.
- Expanded Dance Floor: Enlarged the main floor area to give dancers more room to move comfortably.
- Removed the Entrance Lounge: Cut the spawn lobby so users land directly on the dance floor.
This was our first attempt at connecting the real-world furry community with a virtual dance floor. As it turned out, the organizer made a careless mistake: he forgot to enable the audio source in OBS, so while the video was streaming fine on Twitch, there was no sound. The video link itself worked, so it wasn't a total failure, but it made for a bittersweet debut.
