On January 25, 2025, we hosted VR JMoF × KEMO CLUB Vol.10.
The core concept: "Do what is physically impossible in the real world, for real, in VR."
We recreated the cottage courtyard of Loisir Hotel Toyohashi, JMoF's real-world home in Aichi, Japan, in VRChat. In reality, noise regulations in the hotel area prevent hosting a loud outdoor rave at night. In VR, those physical limitations don't exist.
For this special night, with help from Kyo, who develops the spatial audio and streaming technology "ViXTRIA," we brought in the full 3D Spatial Audio system and streaming infrastructure. Sound changed realistically based on your distance and direction from the speakers, synced with professional-grade ArtNet lighting. It felt like you were actually at an outdoor rave.
We were particular about the equipment too. We ignored the weight limits of the grass and brought in trusses and line arrays with subwoofers, but we only chose trusses that could fit through the hotel's doors, and kept the power supply within what the hotel could realistically provide. If you ignored setup time, it could technically be done. We aimed for that sweet spot between realism and fiction.
The lineup featured GINKO, Tenkitsune, Loprov, and SORAMI. Everyone danced until late into the night. We blasted light onto hotel rooms, onto buildings outside the hotel grounds. Normally you'd get in serious trouble for that. Guests would never be able to sleep. This was a night that couldn't have happened anywhere but VR.
