KEMO CLUB Summer Festival: Looking Back on Our First Big Event

On August 8, 2020, we held the KEMO CLUB Summer Festival.

Just two months after Vol.1, the event jumped from a 3-person crew to a team of 6, welcoming VJ Tuna alongside 5 diverse DJs (SQN, KMC, TARO, Hibikine Kage, F Rabbeat). The party ran for four hours straight, from 8 PM to midnight.

This event was full of firsts:

• Public World Release: VRChat worlds have a cap on how many users can join a single room. To accommodate more attendees, we uploaded our venue to VRChat's Community Labs, making it publicly accessible to anyone.
• Low-Latency Live Streaming: In VRChat, large events often split across multiple instances (rooms). To ensure every instance received the same music and visual effects in real time, we built a custom relay streaming system combined with TopazChat.
• Enhanced Visuals: VJ Tuna created custom HDRI assets (environment maps that shape the overall atmosphere of a world), and momoma directed advanced interactive world gimmicks, raising the visual bar to a whole new level.
• Official Merch Giveaway: We created an original badge wearable on VRChat avatars and distributed it free to all attendees.

This was also the launch of our official Twitter account (@kemoclub_dj). Thanks to our staff, creators, and everyone who showed up, KEMOCLUB moved to the next level.
